DESCRIPTION:Description:\nThis one-hour Zoom workshop introduces participants to authentic assessment as a strategy for increasing student motivation\, engagement\, and meaningful learning. \nAttendees will examine how traditional assessments can unintentionally discourage deep learning and explore how assignments aligned with real-world scenarios or problems can foster student agency and sustained motivation. \nLearning Objectives:\n\nDifferentiate between traditional and authentic assessment.\nExplain how authentic assessment design supports student motivation.\nDetermine the types of authentic assessments that align well with their discipline and courses.\nRedesign an existing course assessment with authentic assessment principles in mind.\n\nPresented By:\nJeff Tunney\, Associate Director of the Center for Teaching & Learning Innovation \n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegistration:\nPlease register for this event.
