
Harnessing the VTSU Online Canvas Template for Effective Online and Hybrid Course Design

This session will begin with a brief history of the VTSU Online Canvas template and its development. It will introduce faculty to the VTSU Online Standards and the Canvas Template, empowering faculty to implement best practices for instructor presence, student engagement, and course quality. The session will include explanation of core instructional design strategies, essential compliance requirements, and the application of adult learning theory in online teaching.
After the workshop, participants will be able to:

Summarize the key components of the VTSU Online Standards and how they apply to online course delivery.

Navigate and implement the VTSU Online Template to create consistent and accessible online courses.

Apply instructional design principles to organize content and activities that support student success.
