New VTSU Faculty – Getting Started

Welcome to Vermont State University! As a new faculty member, there is quite a bit of information to take-in within a short period of time. Just as students can’t learn if they don’t have their basic needs met, we recognize that focusing on teaching is hard if, for instance, you’re worried your unpermitted car will be towed while you’re in class! As a result, we’ve organized a “hierarchy of faculty needs” to help get you acclimated to VTSU. The journey begins with gaining a familiarity with institutional resources, such as the VSC portal and accomplishing administrative tasks. Then you can move on to learning about faculty-specific resources, such as classroom technology. Before meeting your students, it is beneficial to know how they can access the support they need outside the classroom. With those details addressed, you can then dive into planning meaningful teaching and learning experiences for yourself and your students.

Each of the buttons in the hierarchy below provides access to key resources that can be helpful to new as well as existing members of the faculty.
