Jen Garrett-Ostermiller, Director

Jen’s 18-year career in higher education began in student affairs supporting students’ academic progress through roles in academic support services, disability services, and academic advising. She started working in faculty development supervising developmental English and first-year seminar courses at the Community College of Vermont (CCV) while retaining student advising and TRIO responsibilities. She eventually shifted into an Educational Developer role at the Center for Teaching & Learning at the University of Vermont (UVM) before moving to Vermont State University. She continues to teach an interdisciplinary first-year seminar course, part-time at CCV. She received her BS in Environmental Studies and her MEd in Higher Education and Student Affairs, both from UVM. She is a voracious reader, self-professed public radio nerd, passionate women’s soccer fan, birder, and all-around nature-lover.

Jeff Tunney, Associate Director

Jeff has been an educational professional for over 19 years and has worked in computer training, continuing education, and higher educational settings. His experience in higher education consists of having served as a CTL director, professional development specialist, director of distance learning, course and curriculum designer, author, and residential and online faculty member at the undergraduate level. He has also been employed in several other professional fields, such as computer network administration, property management and development, and financial services.
