Student Voices Panel: Traveling the Road to Success

September 10 @ 12:00 pm - 1:15 pm

A panel of rural Vermont ROAD to Success students will share the unique challenges they’ve faced and strengths they’ve brought while navigating their experiences at VTSU. Learn more about the realities of reaching for a future that is new, oftentimes confusing, and also full of potential for so many of our first generation, rural Vermont students.

Participants in the workshop will:

* Explore the specific challenges faced by rural college students in Vermont, including access to resources; transitioning to a university setting; and social, cultural, and familial discordances.

* Reflect on stories and experiences that showcase the resilience, community support, and strengths rural students bring to their educational journeys.

* Begin to identify actionable strategies and systems that educators, institutions, and communities can implement to better support rural students’ pursuit of higher education.

Please note that faculty participants will receive a stipend of $50 per hour for their attendance and participation.

Please register for this event. When you do, you will receive an automatic email from the CTLI confirming your registration. This email will include the Zoom link and the option to “add to calendar” using an embedded hyperlink – this will work for Outlook, Google Calendar, and Yahoo Calendar.
